Description :

Professor Isamu Akasaki, Doctor Honoris Causa of the University Montpellier 2, Honorary Chair of ISGN3 and Doctor Bernard Gil, Director or Recherche at CNRS, General Conference Chair, we are pleased to welcome you on the website of the ISGN3 conference.

This conference to be held July-4th-7th, 2010 at Montpellier will be organized under the umbrellas of the National Centre of Scientific Research (CNRS), of the University Montpellier 2, of the Physics Institute of Montpellier, of the Conseil Régional Languedoc Roussillon, of Montpellier Agglomeration, of the City of Montpellier, to cite our main institutional sponsors.

This conference is a third of a biannual series launched in Sweden in 2006, then organized in Japan in 2008, and now in France for this current version.

The nitrides are semiconductors that developed in the very last part of the twentieth century thanks to general progress of knowledge that occurred simultaneously in industrial, technological and scientific areas (all of them being more or less related to information technologies and energy savings).

They are now boosting and the large number of miniaturized blue light emitters that equip most of the portable electronic devices that everybody handles are a simple example of one among of their many applications. Montpellier previously hosted in 1999, at its Palace of Congress “le Corum”, the third International Conference on Nitride Semiconductors (ICNS3), then the topically oriented “International Symposium on Blue Lasers and Light Emitting Diodes (ISBLLED2006) in 2006.

Both events were great success and gathered several hundreds of attendees. We hope you will give to the ISGN3 conference similar scientific importance and success.
