The OIDA Photonic Sensor Symposium will be held at the Boston University Photonics Center, Boston, Massachusetts on Wednesday, December 8, 2010. Key sponsors are the Canadian Photonics Fabrication Centre of the National Research Council of Canada, the International Photonics Commercialization Alliance, the Canadian Consulates in Boston, New York and Buffalo, and the Canada Economic Development Agency for Quebec. 

This one day symposium will focus on the state of the art of distributed fiber optic sensing as well as advanced point sensing technologies. The scope will include oil and gas, energy, homeland security, military, industrial and biomedical applications. Opportunities, barriers, market projections as well sources of funding will be discussed.

The symposium will include presentations by industry experts representing sensing system designers, manufacturers, and end users of sensor technology. A poster session and product demonstrations will be used in conjunction with formal presentations for a broader representation of the technology and products.
