Quantum Structure Infrared Photodetector International Conference

The need for high performance thermal imaging at affordable cost has led to the development of novel infrared photodetectors based on quantum structured semiconductor materials as an alternative to conventional sensors fabricated with low bandgap semiconductor materials.

Developments in quantum structured infrared photodetector (QSIP) technologies, including quantum wells, quantum dots, superlattices, and novel heterostructures have reached the level of high performance large-format infrared focal plane arrays, and themal imaging systems that are now commercially available.

The QSIP 2010 International Conference aims to bring together scientists, engineers, industrial organizations, students, and users to discuss recent advances in this field. The conference will provide an international forum for attendees to present and discuss new progress in infrared device physics and modeling, materials growth and processing issues, focal plane array development and characterization, as well as commercialization and applications of QSIP technologies.

The conference will also explore the benefits and drawbacks of these technologies, and clarify their role in the competitive market of thermal imaging technology. The program will include oral presentations, panel discussion, as well as ample opportunities for informal interactions among conference participants.
